Move along now... nothing to see here...

I am actually so tired this evening that I can't think of anything exciting to write about.

I could tell you about the death of one of our poor fishes, which we gave a short burial yesterday.  I hope that he's in fishy heaven.  (heaven for fish that is, not a slightly dodgy heaven)

I could tell you about the fact that I managed my full cardio workout last night for the first time since before I started my personal training, which left me *glowing* like a lady shouldn't.  Buckets.

I could tell you all about my better fuel consumption as a result of the 50mph restrictions on the M62, or the fact that I havent been stuck in a major traffic jam as a result of the traffic calming for two weeks.  My thoughts being that they should keep the 50mph limit for the bad stretch even after the extra lane is added.

I could tell you how much I'm missing cheese, that I love onions, that chocolate is always on my mind.

What about Leeds only losing 1 - 0 to Arsenal?  Thierry Henry's goal?  How about Sheffield Wednesday being second in league one!

I could tell you about the crazy little old school indie game that Matt has been playing on the Xbox tonight.

I could.... but I won't.  I'm too tired this evening.  Time for bedfordshire.

The Iron Lady

We got back late from a lovely night out in Bradford last night with Gav and Ali - we had a really tasty curry at Omar Khan's (although I've discovered ordering in a restaurant with Weightwatchers / fodmap is a tedious affair that involves having to explain why you literally cannot eat anything!!)  I had to concede and have some onions in the food, but it was worth it as it was DELICIOUS!!  We had a few drinks at G & A's before heading home (not via the closed M621)  We didn't end up going to bed until 2am though, which meant a long lay in this morning!!

Today has been a lazy day, with very little gaming.  We've done our week food shop, which is significantly more expensive than our usual shop but no matter.  After a little hoovering and the usually clearing of the washing pile, we decided that we'd go to see The Iron Lady at the cinema.

I didn't expect it to be such a touching film.  It's less about Thatcher's political legacy and more about her personal struggle from the perspective of her with dementia.  It's really interesting and brilliantly acted.  So a thoroughly enjoyable movie, and well worth a view.
I think the most touching part is the portrayal of the relationship between Maggie and Dennis.  It made me sniffle a little bit.
And I didn't eat any popcorn - I took a tub of banana slices and blueberries with me.  Pleased with myself!

Success and more success!

Feeling great today - week one has meant 2.6kg weight loss.  I'm aware that that speed of weight loss is unlikely to continue, but I'm just so pleased.  It's the most weight I've lost in a week ever, and is just down to being careful, thinking about what I'm eating, smaller portions and a gym session.  Matt has also lost 1kg so proud of him too!!  Shortly I shall be plugging my weight into my Weightwatchers online thing, and that will make me happy too!  One small step for weightwatchers... one giant leap for G.

We've had a very productive day.  Up early and off to B&Q to get a panel and bits to fix the fencing.  Matt discovered that you can hire a van from them by the hour, what a great idea!!  We picked up the van, and Matt decided to try to rally it back to ours.  Look at the GLEE on his face... I was mostly terrified.

We then spent some time fixing the fence - Matt did a really good job setting three posts back and replacing the shattered panel.  He's not usually a big DIY fan, so I'm really impressed with the job that he did!

Just waiting to hear if we're out tonight or not.  Either way I'm happy, either food with friends or chilling at home.  Both are welcome.  I'm such a tired G, but we've put "Paul" on to watch so I'm off!

Tonight is gym night....

I really am too shattered to go.  I can't decide if it's best to go and struggle or to rest tonight and deal with our busy day tomorrow as it comes.

Tomorrow Matt and I have to repair the fence, which involves hiring a van from B & Q, getting the panelling, some concrete (components) and managing to use our "superior" DIY skills (read none) to fix it.  If we manage to do it, it will not cost us too much.  I will also feel much better knowing that the house is more secure.

Jeans arrived from Debenhams today that I got in the sale.  They're miles too small (all my other size 16 jeans fit...) but I'm going to keep them as a "target" pair of jeans.  They were a really good price and it would seem a shame to get rid of them.

I'm hopeful for my first weigh in tomorrow.  I've had a few sneaky weighs and the signs all indicate that I'm doing well, I just hope that it'll stick.

The good things this week are that we've had delicious meals all week, I've not really felt too hungry, I've enjoyed cooking and finding recipes that suit the mad list of things I can and cannot eat, and if I'm losing weight also it's good news all around.

Matt has now started on the new Assassin's Creed.  I wonder if this will be another 6 month game.  His friends and he have a website called www.pixel-junkies.co.uk where they post reviews about games etc so I should imagine that there'll be a review of some kind coming.  It has been a little quiet of late, but I gather that there is going to be a resurgence in effort and possibly a more blog-like style to it.  I'll keep you posted.  Perhaps any readers can go there and persuade him that gaming should give way to happy-ever-after films, and making tea for his girlfriend.  Just a thought...

Well, it's Friday night and I'm sat typing in an anti-social manner.  I think that I shall go and talk to the cat.  He seems just as fed up with the gaming as I... or at least I assume so from the way he has perched on Matt as best he can, looking for affection.

Skyrim completed!!

Hurray!!!  The day that I thought would never come.  Skyrim is no more.  Matt has defeated the last dragon.  Sense can return to the world!!

Clearly karma doesn't want it to be a celebratory evening tonight though.  Currently, the cat has been sick twice, the dogs are nervous (probably because the cat has been sick twice) and more irritatingly, we have had a small disaster in the garden.

Last night, as the wind literally howled its way around the house, and the doors inside rattled in reaction to the gusts that found their way in through all the possible nooks / ventilation points, we lay happily in bed.  Then I heard a crunch, I sat up and said "What the hell was that?!" Matty replied "it'll be one of those bins making its way around the garden."  He's right, I thought.  There's no need to worry.

This evening, when I got home, I trotted into the house and had a look around.  The dogs hadnt sh*t on, p***ed on, or destroyed anything - a miracle!  I patted them furiously and then let them out.  Off they scuttled.  And then.... silence.  No snuffling, no panting.....  I called them back in after I thought they'd had time to do their business.  Poppet came.  Chester didnt.  I called him twice, and then put on the nearest pair of shoes (Matt's) to go and look.  Had he jumped the fence?!  No..... the gales last night had taken down the fence around the back of the house near our bedroom.  And on the otherside of the fence, on the wall over looking the carpark, was a sheepish dog.  You know the look.  The one that says "who me?!..... as IF I was about to run off into the car park, or for a ramble around upsetting the local cats.  As IF!!!"

Saturday, then, will include (a) buying a new, suitable fence panel to replace the shattered one, (b) re-sitting the two enormous fence posts that have been uprooted (and actually set them in concrete this time....) and (c) fix all the three unseated panels back in place.

Sigh....

More skyrim....

Skyrim is on again....

We will be off to the gym in the not too distant future though, so I shall have some R & R from it.

Diet still on track.  I temporarily angrily snatched at a box of chocolate earlier, when scrabbling around trying to find my stamps, in a bid to alleviate my irritation.  That's when you realise you're a comfort eater!!

I had a sneeky weigh in this morning - 1.5kg lost already!  I wonder if it'll have stayed off by Saturday morning (official weightwatchers weigh in day)

I shall take the rest of my blog to complain about delivery service "Yodel" - they really are sh*t beyond measure.  I have been waiting for several parcels for some time now, one of which is due for delivery via their network.  When I saw that they were delivering, my heart sank.  So far they have managed to "lose" (read stolen from depot) a hoover that was on its way to us (a super discounted Dyson, which was never replaced as the offer had expired), they've managed to deliver a package from the Book People that was not only 10 days late, but also smashed to pieces.  On delivery of the second package from the book people, we had to go and find the driver.  He told us it was OK because it was his round, and he now knew where we were.  Cue several deliveries that were OK.  Today I get a telephone voicemail, over a week after dispatch, telling me that they "can't find" us.  I explained, at length, about the history of their utterly rubbish service, that I was not prepared to go through the same b*llocks again, and that they may want to take my directions down VERY carefully.  I have given detailed information.  I have given them somewhere to leave the parcel (which now will have no one home, as would not have been the case if they'd delivered on time), and I have mentally noted that, if they fail to deliver to me tomorrow, I will go to the depot and give them all a lesson in (a) map reading and (b) common sense.

I also ordered an old fashioned diary from amazon (post, turned up just fine) so I will be recording in that too.  I realise that there are so many things that we do on a regular basis that just fade into the mists of time, and I cannot remember when or with whom etc.  I'd like very much to keep track.  It's only day to day stuff, but as John Lennon said, "life is what happens when you're making other plans".
